Trained as a classical piano player at Tbilisi’s performing arts school, Maia moved into Jazz in 1995 and soon joined Tbilisi Concert Orchestra (The Tbilisi Big Band) as leading vocalist where she has been engaged till today. Since then she has gone on to perform with various jazz bands as well as state Symphony Orchestra, and Tbilisi Big Band.

Traditional and Modern Jazz group " New York-Tbilisi Connection Trio" is Tbilisi based collaboration of three seasoned world class musicians formed in 2015 when Georgian-American drummer, percussionist, composer and arranger, Bosphorus Cymbals artist, Professor Of Drums at the Tbilisi State Conservatory Jazz Department George Melikishvili (widely known internationally as George Mel ) has returned to his country of birth. Upon his return to Tbilisi from New York City where he was part of the cutting edge Jazz and creative improvisational music scene for 15 years and performed with Jazz legends such as Esperanza Spalding, Mino Cinelu, Avishai Cohen, Lionel Loueke , Badal Roy, Leo Genovese and Perry Robinson among countless others , and in such landmark venues as Carnegie Hall, Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Smoke, Smalls , just to mention a few, he soon found the other two members of the Trio in Tbilisi : virtuoso pianist , Tbilisi State Conservatory graduate in classical performance major, established Jazz pianist Gia Rakviashvili , and the most versatile and in demand all-round bassist in Georgia , Professor of Bass of the Tbilisi State Conservatory Jazz Department , Giorgi Samsonadze. Since 2015 the Trio has performed extensively in all major Jazz clubs and festivals in Tbilisi forming its unique sound and signature style of intense improvisational palette that captivates most diverse audiences imaginable.
